Oversized & Project CargoOut-of-Gauge & Heavy Lift

Transformers, pressure vessels, cranes, modules and plant — cargo that will not fit in a container, moved worldwide by flat rack, breakbulk, RoRo, air charter or heavy haulage, with route surveys, permits, escorts and lifting plans handled for you.

How We Handle It

01
ASSESS

Dimensions & Feasibility

Final dimensions, weight and centre of gravity taken from the finished item — not the drawing — then matched against equipment, vessel and road options.

02
PLANNING

Route Survey

The route is physically driven: bridge clearances, roundabout geometry, overhead cables, verge strength and turning circles — before the move is priced, not after it is booked.

03
PERMITS

Permits & Escorts

Movement authorisation tied to the dimensions, axle configuration and route, with police and pilot escorts and night-movement windows arranged for each leg.

04
ENGINEERING

Lifting Plan

Crane capacity at radius, ground bearing pressure, rigging, lift points and a named lift supervisor — the documentation industrial sites require before anything is lifted.

05
TRANSIT

Securing & Transport

Lashing to recognised standards with timber bedding, bracing and weather protection, then the move itself by flat rack, breakbulk, RoRo, charter or multi-axle trailer.

06
DELIVERY

Site Delivery & Set-Down

Delivery to the foundation or laydown area with the crane, rigging team and site supervision co-ordinated for the set-down window.

In Depth

When Cargo Goes Out of Gauge

The Four Thresholds That Change Everything

A shipment only has to break one of these to leave the standard container world — and the most expensive mistake in project cargo is a dimension taken from a drawing rather than from the finished item.

ThresholdStandard limitSolution
Widthapprox. 2.35 m internalFlat rack or breakbulk
Heightapprox. 2.35 m (2.69 m high cube)Open top or flat rack
Length12 mCombined flat racks, breakbulk, extendable trailer

Out-of-gauge surcharges are based on the slots your cargo blocks around it — which is why an extra 100 mm of width can cost more than the piece is worth to move.

Road Across the GCC

Heavy Haulage — Often the Whole Answer, Not Just the Last Mile

The road network between Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Oman is good enough that a multi-axle move from a Gulf port to a site in the Kingdom is routine work. It is also how we bypass congestion entirely: discharge at an uncongested gateway, then run the piece overland.

Common Questions

Anything exceeding the internal dimensions or payload of a standard container — broadly wider than about 2.35 m, higher than about 2.35 m, longer than 12 m, or too heavy or too concentrated in load for a standard floor. It then moves on a flat rack, an open top, as breakbulk, by RoRo, by air charter or by heavy haulage.

Yes — and it is often the fastest route. We use low-bed, extendable and multi-axle modular trailers between Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Oman, with route surveys, movement permits and escorts arranged for every leg.

Four to eight weeks for a heavy-lift or breakbulk sailing, because sailing frequency rather than space is the constraint. Two to three weeks for flat-rack or open-top equipment and OOG approval. A road move within the GCC can often be organised in days if the permits and route survey allow.

Yes. We arrange lifting equipment and the rigging team at both ends with a lifting plan and method statement prepared in advance — crane capacity at radius, ground bearing pressure, lift points and a named supervisor. Most industrial sites will not permit a lift without it.

Usually. Standard all-risk cargo policies often limit or exclude heavy-lift and project risk, and some exclude lifting operations entirely. We review the cover against the actual move and arrange an extension or a separate project policy before the cargo is lifted.

The general arrangement drawing, final dimensions and weight with tolerance, centre of gravity and lift points, the collection address, the delivery site and its access, and the date the piece is needed on site. With those we can price the realistic routes rather than a guess.
