How We Handle It
Cargo Assessment
We review your cargo specs — weight, volume, commodity, and Incoterm — to recommend FCL or LCL and the most suitable carrier and routing.
Quotation & Booking
We obtain competitive rates from vetted carriers, present a transparent cost breakdown, and lock in your booking with confirmed vessel and ETD.
Documentation
Our team prepares or reviews Bill of Lading, packing list, commercial invoice, certificate of origin, and any commodity-specific certificates.
Loading & Port Handling
We coordinate container stuffing, fumigation if required, and delivery to the port in time for vessel cut-off with real-time updates.
Ocean Transit
Your shipment is tracked throughout the voyage. We monitor vessel schedules, notify you of any delays, and manage transshipment where applicable.
Destination Clearance & Delivery
On arrival, our team or partner agents handle import clearance, duty payment, and final delivery to your warehouse or project site.

Load Types Explained
FCL vs LCL — Which is Right for Your Cargo?
The right choice depends on volume, transit time requirements, and cargo sensitivity. Use this comparison to decide, or ask our team for a recommendation based on your specific shipment.
| FCL — Full Container Load | LCL — Less than Container Load | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Cargo that fills 50%+ of a container | Smaller cargo, 1–15 CBM |
| Transit time | Faster — no consolidation wait | Slightly longer — groupage schedule |
| Cost | Fixed per container | Per CBM / per tonne |
| Cargo risk | Lower — only your goods in box | Shared container with others |
| Flexibility | Book any vessel | Subject to consolidation schedule |
| Ideal cargo | Manufacturing, retail, bulk | Samples, spare parts, seasonal stock |

Routes We Cover

Common Questions
For FCL, aim for 2–3 weeks before your required loading date. For LCL, 1–2 weeks is usually sufficient, though peak seasons (pre-Chinese New Year, Q4) can push this to 3–4 weeks. The earlier you book, the better rate you typically secure.
Standard requirements: Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin, and any commodity-specific documents (e.g. SFDA approval, SABER certificate for regulated products). Pivot handles all documentation preparation and review.
Port-to-port covers ocean freight between nominated ports only. Door-to-door includes inland transport at origin (from your factory/warehouse to the port) and at destination (from the port to the consignee). Pivot offers both — door-to-door is the more convenient option for most clients.
Yes. We handle IMDG-classified dangerous goods including flammables, corrosives, and aerosols. DG shipments require a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and a DG declaration. Contact us early for DG bookings as carrier acceptance varies.
Yes, we can arrange marine cargo insurance covering all-risk or specific perils. We strongly recommend insurance for all shipments — standard carrier liability is limited and rarely covers the full cargo value.
